Eternal Song

Eternal Song

Hush! Listen!
Close your eyes
And hear the chaunt
The rhythm of the sea.

Swoosh! Clatter!
Pebbly chatter
Each wave
A different key.

Soft she sings
Eternal tune
For those
Whose hearts have bled.

Loud she roars
Her brutal dirge
For those
Who mourn their dead.

When all are gone
And none remain
She still
shall heave and sigh.

But none shall hear
Nor linger near
To dream
Of days gone by.
